Why are Republican's so consistantly dishonest?
by Coded Logic init hasn't gone unnoticed that the republicans who are saying, "we need to get to the bottom of the obama wiretapping" and "let's investigate this" - are the same people, when it comes to trump's russian ties, who are saying, "we shouldn't look at this at all - it's just a bunch of lies and hype.".
no evidence whatsoever for claims about obama need a congressional investigation.
but mountains of evidence about trump with more coming out everyday can be swept under the rug.

Local Elder Mentions this Site from the Platform
by James Jack ina local elder had the part this week on the "good news" brochure.
he said: "if the householder has any questions, direct them to jw.org, don't say, just look up jehovah's witnesses on the internet(an older sister said this at the door), if you do they will be directed to a site visited by apostates and weak witnesses!
" "this mistake, would cause the householder to never accept bible truth".. i thought to myself, wow, i'm sure some listening to this part, will get curious now(many in the hall are just being exposed to the internet, and practicing with their new tablets) and do, just what they were told not to do..

Something that doesn't get discussed all that much...
by Vidiot in...but i believe is relevant:.
just how much is the watchtower organization's "business model" dependent on its tax-exempt status?.
is it truly sustainable without it?.

I believe that they would be taxed at a 30% rate.

What's up with the numbering of the songs and reading them off the screen?
by Spiral ini don't have to go very often, but last time i took my mother they were singing songs off a screen.
the numbers weren't the same as the songs with the same number on my tablet.
seemed like a lot of people were confused, but a couple of more gregarious attendees were singing (and swaying a bit) "church-style".

Your was using the wrong songbook app. There are 3 songbooks on the JW app, The 1st is the Original songbook, 2nd is just the new songs, and the 3rd is the new completed songbook released 2 months ago. Just delete the 2 older ones to end the confusion.

West Palm Beach Christian Convention Center -- 10 Years Old
by SnakesInTheTower inwhile looking for info on another thread, i found this recent article on the old "leaky teepee" in west palm beach, florida...that was bought by the wtbts 10 years ago....for a song.... .
note the regrets of city officials in that they could have done what wt did and sold some of the land (wt sold a lot of the unused land to home depot and recovered a good portion of the $12.5 million they paid for the entire property).
it really is a beautiful property now, inside and out .

Not for sale. Talked to a longtime friend who still does tours for the facility and offered to take my family on a Tour anytime we want.

Observations from an Ex-Elder Part 2 - Cart Work
by doubtfull1799 inup until i left recently i was participating in the cart work.
in the location where we used to set up near our local mall we never had one person stop and take literature or stop and chat - other than fellow brothers.
i thought maybe it was just a bad location or something.

We set one up at the local Flea Market on Saturdays, for about 4 hours. I have done it 3 times, with thousands of people passing by and no one taking a publication. The only literature placed on one day was by an old Pioneer Sister would walk up to kids and show them the New Earth Brochure and speak Child Talk to them, and parents would smile and let the children take the brochure.

Becoming the average JW (and what I found out about the average 'Joe Witness')
by Skepsis inuntil a couple of months ago i was an uber-spiritual pioneer, only having association with other pioneers, elders and others who would fill in the category i classified as "spiritually acceptable" friends.. but since stopping pioneering and having more time to think about my doubts and what i really believe (or better said, what i no longer believe), i have started getting to know other less spiritual brothers and sisters of the area.
in fact, my old friends are starting to forget me quite quickly, i must say.
so, i guess my next move in fading is becoming what i call the average witness.. and what did i discover?

James Jack, your comment about sisters wearing bikinis at a pool party made me chuckle. That seems so very appropriate! Maybe I've been out too long and have forgotten, but do JWs really have issues with wearing bikinis to the pool?
Are you kidding? Of course the R&F do! Heck, I bet half the Witnesses don't believe in going swimming in the company with the opposite sex! Too much temptation.

So true! Imagine at 50 and for over 30 years you only hung out with Super Spiritual Ones! Yeah, it's an eye opener to be with just the regular pubs.
In my case, we had a pool party with no appointed individuals, and we had a blast! A little over drinking, a little cussing, some inappropriate music and 2 sisters had bikinis on. I told everyone, "what happens here, never happened "! One sister even had to puke. Everything was cool, been 8 months since our party, no reports made to the Elders and everyone wants more parties like this one!

I don't know if you are close to Chattanooga, TN, there is a Cuban Restaurant named Embargo 62, we celebrated our Anniversary there last week. Very authentic!
